Melvin Carlson Obituary

Melvin L. Carlson Obituary: Whenever you stand in respect for our flag, collect rich garden soil beneath your fingernails or savor the perfume of a rose garden consider: Melvin Leslie Carlson, (you probably know him as "Mel"), who entered eternal life on Saturday, November 2, 2019. His spirit is carried on by his wife, three surviving daughters, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three surviving siblings, extended family and friends from every walk of life. We are blessed with valuable lessons illustrated by Mel throughout his 91 years. Among them are: Absorb the concussion of low flying fighter jets. Let it be a reminder of the protection and freedom we enjoy as a people of the United States. Learn and cherish our Nation's history. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Fertile soil tilled and planted provide nourishment for body and soul. Attention to detail will provide insight and quality to any pursuit. Consider your footprints. Leave not a trail of waste. Instead, provide a marker to utilize and conserve resources for the future. READ...READ...READ! Above all... Seek spiritual knowledge and understanding, guarding integrity for what is right, dedicating loyalty to what is true. Mel is survived by his wife: Bette; children: Susan (husband Steve), Rebecca, Lisa (husband Claude); grandchildren: Jennifer, Steven, Seth, Cody, Theo, Brianna, Alexis; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Emory, Mia, Judah, Shelby, Brealey; siblings: Gerald, Marlene, Karen...and cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mel is predeceased by daughter: Elizabeth; siblings: Kenneth and Virginia. Mel's earthly body will rest at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in honor of his military service. In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider planting or dedicating a Peace Rose in Mel's memory. The Peace Rose was developed on the eve of World War II. A clipping was sent from France to West Grove, Pennsylvania, (Mel's home state), for safe keeping during the war. The All American Rose Selection awarded the Peace Rose as it's only winner on the same day Japan surrendered, effectively ending WWII.
