Frank Truesdale Obituary

Frank Hale Truesdale passed away at Adler Center in Aldie, Virginia surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Columbia, South Carolina to Bessie and Burrell Truesdale. He was the last surviving sibling, being predeceased by his parents, brothers Burrell, Philip, and Clifton, and sisters Evelyn (Jennings) and Doris (Pratt). He moved from Columbia, South Carolina to Franconia, Virginia in 1944 with his mother and sister Doris, following his siblings Clifton and Evelyn who had come north for jobs. They resided in Franconia, Virginia on Beulah Street for many years prior to moving to the City of Alexandria. One of Frank’s first jobs was with Eastern Airlines where he met his wife Geraldine “Gerry”. They were married November 21, 1959 and resided in Alexandria for 45 years, moving to Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2011 after her retirement. Their retirement plans took a drastic change when he was diagnosed with dementia shortly after relocating. Although not the “dream” retirement they had imagined, they were very happy and adjusted to life as needed over the next several years. As his health began to decline, he moved to memory care at Poet’s Walk of Fredericksburg, moving one more time to Tribute at One Loudoun in Ashburn. Most of Franks career was spent at Cameron Station on Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia working for the Federal Government. First in the Commissary and then for the Defense Logistics Agency serving as a Facilities Inspector. He loved his job, taking to heart the many policies and rules, and enforcing them all, much to the chagrin of some. In addition to working, he loved the Lord and attended church regularly, singing in the choir and serving as an usher. He also loved history and watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies. After his retirement, he spent many years caring for two of his grandchildren, one from infancy, cooking them breakfast, taking them to school, parks, and many activities, and enjoyed every moment of it. He loved all his grandchildren, and they brought great joy to him in his retirement years. He is survived by his wife Geraldine Truesdale, children Evelyn and husband Stephen (Kitchen), Kathleen and husband Michael (Tillery), Jennifer and husband Kirk (Merkle), and Brian and wife Jill. There are 12 grandchildren that he loved more than anything – Christopher and Jason Kitchen, Timothy and Brian Tillery, Justin, Jessica, and Joshua Merkle, and Victoria ‘Tori’, Alexis ‘Lexi’, Seth, Halynn, Ryker Truesdale. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Capital Caring Adler Center, 24419 Millstream Dr, Aldie, VA 20105 and indicate “Frank Truesdale” or online at capitalcaring.org, click Donate, and indicate in memory of and designate Capital Caring Adler Center. Thank you. His wife Gerry resides at Tribute at One Loudoun. She and the family would appreciate not only cards but most importantly face-to-face visits with her. Frank was always looking out for his wife and his wishes would be that she is continuously surrounded by the love of not only family but others.
