Belchertown-Pauline (Polly) Ritter Lawrence, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Born November 18, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of Paul and Geraldine (Byfield) Ritter. Pauline has lived in Belchertown for the past 28 years. While in Indiana, she and her husband Harrel W. Hale, founded Harrel W. Hale Construction Company. She was proud to say she was the only female contractor in the waste water treatment industry. As an active Baptist and life deacon, she taught Sunday School and was an organist at several churches. Most recently, Pauline was a member at the Shutesbury Community Church. Pauline enjoyed traveling and reading. In 1978, she was predeceased by her first husband, Harrel W. Hale and in 2017, she was predeceased by her second husband, Robert E. Lawrence. Pauline is survived by her two children, Holly Hale-Haug of CA and Paul Hale (Oscar Gomez) of TX along with Robert's children, Keith Lawrence (Beth) of IL, Kenneth Lawrence (Suzanne) of PA, Mark Lawrence (Denise) of Chicopee, MA and Janet Nelson (David) of N. Brookfield, MA. Pauline also leaves 10 grandchildren: Jamyson Alexander Haug, Alex Gomez, Marsha Wilson, Heather Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, Valerie Lawrence, Jennifer Yanek, Brian Lawrence, Christina Francis and Gary Lawrence. Besides her parents and husbands, Pauline was also predeceased by her sister, Margaret J. Fisher of Greenfield, IN.
A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. on November 8, 2019 at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home with burial to follow in South Cemetery.
