Elias Suleiman Haddadin, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 4th at the age of 83 years old.
He was born in Ma’in, Jordan on June 14, 1936, the son of the late Suleiman and Jamieleh Haddadin. He was the fourth child of six: Lutfi, Miriam, Tawfiq, Elias, Martha, and Jalileh. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and his children Jamie Handler (Eric), Laith Haddadin (Manka), Nadir Haddadin, Jehan Haddadin, as well as his four grandchildren Ella and Luke Handler, and Karam and Milly Haddadin - all of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his two sisters, Miriam and Jalileh Haddadin of Amman, Jordan.
After high school he became a teacher in Amman, Jordan and taught for several years until he gained the opportunity to study in the United States. In September of 1960 he made the journey abroad to attend school at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois, where he received his B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics. He continued his education at DePaul University where he earned an M.S. in Physical Chemistry. During his early career in the metal canning industry, he went on to achieve an M.B.A. from Northwestern University in 1976. He had a passion for learning that led to a successful career in chemistry and business.
His most rewarding role was being a loving father and husband. Coming from humble beginnings, providing for his children and family was always most important. During his days of retirement, he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren. He also frequently visited his birthplace of Jordan, maintaining close ties to his family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Monday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at Almon Funeral Home from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery.
