Mildred Lucille Huett Obituary

Mildred Lucille Huett, 102, of Keokuk, IA, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at River Hills Village in Keokuk. She was born on August 2, 1913 in LaPlata, MO the daughter of Charles Ellsworth and Tessie May Buck. Her family moved to Ft. Madison, IA when she was eight years old so her father could work for the Santa Fe railroad. She graduated from Ft. Madison Senior High with the Class of 1931. On July 15, 1937, Mildred married Doyle Conlee Huett in Coffeyville, KS. He preceded her in death April 7, 1983. Mildred lived in her own home in Ft. Madison, IA until she was 92 years old and then moved to Keokuk to be near her daughter. Before having children she worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison and in later years at the Elks Club in Ft. Madison. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, sewing, doing latch hook and gardening. Her strawberry patch was her pride and joy with its bounty being frozen to enjoy throughout the year. Mildred is survived by three children, including Doris (Stanley) Wilhelm of Keokuk, eight grandchildren including Dr. Lisa Wilhelm (Doug Mossengren) of Durant, IA and Katie (Ryals) Parker of Cedar Rapids, IA, and twelve great-grandchildren including Wilhelm Conlee Mossengren of Durant, IA. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Buck, a sister, Coweta Smith, a daughter, Gayle Chipman Hodge and a grandson, Jeffrey Fedler. A private service was held in the Oakland Cemetery in Ft. Madison, IA. Memorials may be made to F.O.K.A.S. or the Lee County Hospice.
