Franklyn M. Knapp, 85, of Batavia passed away on Saturday April 16, 2016 at New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. He was born August 3, 1930 in Auburn, New York to late John (Vera Greenizen) Knapp. Mr. Knapp is preceded in death by his beloved wife Noreen M. (Baudendistel) Knapp. Mr. Knapp served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Lab Technician for nearly 50 years retiring from United Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Knapp was a member of the Model Airplane and Model Railroad Club along with being a Gun Club member and also the Alexander Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his son John Knapp of Batavia; daughters Patricia (Wayne Burgess) Knapp of Marcellus; Barbara Knapp of Auburn and step son David Merritt of Stafford; grandchildren Matthew Hawker, Chelsea and Aaron Holbein; a great-grandchild Austin Hawker and ex-spouse, Aletha Knapp. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday April 29, 2016 from 4:00-7:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. He will be laid to rest in Glenside Cemetery, Wolcott, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Batavia Homecare & Hospice 29 Liberty St. Batavia, New York 14020.
