Kenneth D. Palmer, age 64, of Junction City, died early April 16, 2016. Ken was born July 2, 1951 to the late Daniel and Mary (Weisenmyer) Palmer in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up there, attended the local grade schools, and graduated high school. Following high school, Ken worked on a merchant marine ship as a deck hand until later becoming the Bike MD at Benz and Sons Cycles. He later attended Culinary School in the Milwaukee area and became a chef. Ken relocated to the Stevens Point area where he found work at The Restaurant at Sentry. -He admittedly walked into the wrong kitchen and was hired immediately by Chef Larry Raymond. Ken married Janet Benz. They had 2 daughters, Kelsey and Kendall. They later separated. His passion for working on bicycles led him to find additional employment at the Hostel Shoppe in Stevens Point. In addition, Ken worked various jobs until becoming employed at the Biron Paper Mill. He worked there numerous years until returning back to school and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. His talent for preparing food led him to find work as a chef for North Haven Assisted Living. Ken married Shirley Williams in 2009. Ken will be remembered for his love of nature and his social personality. He was an avid sportsman who relished hunting and fishing. His appreciation for the outdoors also kept him active canoeing, skiing, and scuba diving. Family also held a special place in his heart. He was a past member of the Milwaukee Air Gun Combat Club and proud to be an Eagle Scout. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Palmer; daughters, Kelsey (Shaun) Brock, and their son, Reed of Rudolph, WI and daughter, Kendall (Justin) Zellner, and their daughter, Lily of Milladore, WI. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim Palmer and Roger Palmer; and nieces, Lizzy and Danielle; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Palmer. A time of Visitation and Sharing of Memories will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point.
