Barbara Ann Hoerter of Wausau, 71, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2016. By her side was her loving husband Leon Hoerter of 54 years, and her family. Barb was born in Merrill, WI on September 6, 1944 to the late Carl D. and Elsie (Leopold) Janisch. While attending Wausau High School, she met and later married Leon Hoerter February 2nd, 1962. While raising a family, Barb worked full-time at Fleet Farm for 35 years where she managed the Audit department. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and delighted in being with her family. She loved to play cards, sew, bake, garden and was an avid bargain hunter. She loved to travel. Her many travel destinations included Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Tennessee, California, Florida, New York, Arizona, Minnesota, Michigan, Nevada, Mexico and many other marvelous places. She is preceded in death by parents, Carl D. and Elsie (Leopold) Janisch, Cliff and Evelyn (Schuett) Hoerter, her brother Carl "Pete" Janisch, and her son, Ronald Hoerter. She is survived by husband Leon; Daughter Renee (Patrick) O'Brien of Minneapolis; Son, Reid (Patti) Hoerter and daughter in law Cindy Hoerter- Petzke all of Wausau; Brothers: Dale (Linda) Janisch and Michael (Beverly) Janisch; Sister Sally (Gerhard) Hannemann, Special aunts Marie Leopold and Shirley Pfingsten all of Merrill; Brother in law Gary (Sharon) Hoerter of Brookfield and Sister in law Lois (Tom) Kolpacki of Weston; Granddaughters Cailee (Joe Werner) Hoerter, Vivian and Regan O'Brien; Grandsons Rylan Hoerter, Hunter and Gunner Hoerter, and great grandson Ryder along with many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home in Schofield. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Marshfield Clinic - Cancer Research.
