James Brantley, Jr. passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 88. “Junior” was born February 4, 1928, in De Kalb, Texas, to the late James Brantley, Sr. and the late Alma Elliott Brantley. He grew up on “Old 26” and attended Oak Ridge School. He was a retired Supervisor with Red River Army Depot, having worked there for 44 years. Junior was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved playing Dominoes and he loved his family and friends. You could always find him enjoying a game or two under a shade tree. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ben E. Brantley; and a grandson, Montrey Jones. He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Neighbors Brantley of De Kalb, Texas; two sons, Doug Brantley of De Kalb, Texas and Scotty Brantley of Lawton, Oklahoma; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Bobbie J. Forte` of De Kalb, Texas, Ruby Brantley of De Kalb, Texas and Jo Ann and Don Woods of Dallas, Texas; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, R. L. and Gladys Brantley of De Kalb, Texas, Joe and Juanzell Brantley of Dallas, Texas, Willie B. Brantley of Duncanville, Texas and Paul and Patricia Brantley of De Kalb, Texas; three grandchildren, Brody Holloway, Sr., Nigel Holloway, Sr., Polly Holloway; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Minister Dwight Forte` officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
