Marvin D. Overby, Jr.

Axtell- Marvin D. Overby Jr., 81, of Axtell, NC passed away on April 16th, 2016 in the company of his family. Born on November 29th, 1934 to the late Mary Austin and Marvin D. Overby Sr. He was a graduate of John Graham Highschool and served in the US Military. Marvin was an exceptional cook, seasoned truck driver, and a life-long member and deacon of Brown's Baptist Church. Mr. Overby was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth Overby McAmis, Sally Overby Cole and Jane Overby Finch. He is survived by his wife Kay Tomlinson Overby of Axtell, NC; sisters Eula Allen Ballard of Fort Meyers, FL, Willie Cassell and husband Bob of Cary, NC; daughter Donna Abbott and son-in-law Durward Abbott of Knightdale, NC; grandson Daniel Abbott of Raleigh, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Revs. Jerry Davidson & Dudley Neal will conduct funeral services at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19th at the Brown’s Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brown's Baptist Church care of Diane Jackson 121 Cokesbury Court, Henderson, NC 27537. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at Brown’s Baptist Church from 12:30-2:00 pm. Arrangements are by Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton.
