Eleanor Oritha Slaughter Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor O. Slaughter, formerly of Rome, Georgia went home to be with Our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Mrs. Slaughter was born April 8, 1936, daughter of the late Donald R. and Inez Weeks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Joe Slaughter, a brother, James Henry Weeks, and a grandson Samuel Weeks Thayer. She is survived by three children, a son and daughter-in-law, William E. & Lita Slaughter of Seoul, South Korea, two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra Bailey and Penny and Sam Thayer of Ft. Mill, SC, as well as a granddaughter and a grandson, Abby and Samuel Thayer. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Davis of Eufaula, AL, two brothers, Robert Weeks of Florence, AL and Richard Weeks of Cedartown, GA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Slaughter was a graduate of Rome High School and spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Slaughter was a life-long resident of Rome, Georgia up until 2010, at which time she moved to Ft. Mill, SC to be closer to her family. Mrs. Slaughter was of the Baptisit faith. A private memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ft. Mill, SC at a later date. Interment will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, Georgia, also to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 8919 Park Road, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28210.
