Gwendolyn "Gwen" Rouse

Gwendolyn Rouse, affectionately known as Gwen, was born on February 18, 1940 to the late Larry and Ernestine Rouse. Gwen was one of four children born to her parents. Gwen was raised and educated in the Newark Public School System. She graduated from Central High School. Gwen had a long career working for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of New Jersey in the human resources department, where she retired. She also worked in the records research department at the Newark Police Department. Gwen loved life and family. Gwen served as the district leader in the Baxter Terrace Housing complex for several terms. She was a charter member of Quality Lifestyle Inc., an organization that raised money to provide book scholarships to Baxter Terrace youth going on to higher education. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and social outings with her many friends. Gwen leaves to cherish her memories: her only child Ronelle Rouse, daughter-in-law Tammy, granddaughter Stephanie, a sister Sheila Rouse-Doles, brother-in-law Darryl Doles, sisters-in-law Carol and Sandra, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
