Flora Solomon Manning Obituary

Kernersville – Mrs. Flora Jane Solomon Manning, 98, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 26, 1917 in Stokes County to Pinkney Benjamin and Martha Hampton Solomon. Flora retired from Adams Millis and was the longest standing member of Glenn View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Manning; brothers, Joe, Odell, Willard, Bill and Ray Solomon; a sister, Lillian Solomon King; and a special son-in-law, E. Tommy Smith. Surviving are her children, Betty Smith McIntyre, Charles Manning (Karen) and Geraldine Parnell (Gary) all of Kernersville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Solomon Stoltz of Bethania; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Glenn View Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Arbor Ridge in Kernersville and the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their care of Flora. Memorials may be made to Glenn View Baptist Church, 4725 Glenn High Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
