Sandra Gates Brown

Elon-Sandra Gates Brown, age 66, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late Willie R. and Gracie Wright Gates. Sandra delivered the Burlington Times News for over 20 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flower garden. Sandra loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Tina Brown Flinchum of Elon and Linda Simmons and husband, Dale of Burlington; grandchildren, Dales Simmons, Jr. of Burlington, Donna Stinson and husband, Justin of Snow Camp, Tabitha Simmons of Burlington; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Maddison and Morgan Stinson, Landon and Layton Simmons; father of her children, Melvin Brown of Whitsett and sisters, June Allison of Gibsonville, Dianne Mann of Burlington and Sherry Troxler of Wilmington and a brother, Danny Gates. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Micheal Brown; sister, Judy Cutler and her son-in-law, Jerry Lee Flinchum, Sr. The family would like to thank the Flores family for their love and support and also the Nurses and Staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of Tina B. Flinchum, 3512 Osceola Road in Elon. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
