Sonja Kay McDonald

Sonja Kay McDonald, 74, of Arkansas City, died Sunday (April 3, 2016) at the Wesley Medical Center of Wichita. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday (April 8, 2016) at the First Southern Baptist Church of Arkansas City. Pastor Carl Rider will officiate. Cremation has been effected. Sonja was born November 26, 1941, in Arkansas City, to Enoch and Sylvia (Wilson) Stephenson. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1959. She married Billy McDonald that summer. Sonja worked at Arkansas City Memorial Hospital,(SCKMC) and for the Cowley County Education Cooperative for USD 470. She was a longtime, devoted member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Arkansas City. Survivors include sons Jim and wife Tracy McDonald of Arkansas City, Tony and wife Yvette McDonald of Wichita; a daughter Teresa and husband Garry Scott of Arkansas City; a brother Terry and wife Janet Stephenson of Arkansas City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Billy in 1998. A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com
