Dorothy F. Pelton

Obituary for Dorothy F. Pelton February 15, 1933-October 28, 2019 Dorothy Pelton passed away peacefully on October 28, 2019 at the age of 86 with her daughters by her side. She was born in Natick, Massachusetts to Tom & Mary Hayes in February 1933. She and her husband Joe lived in her childhood home up until 1959 when Joe’s job took them to Massapequa Park, Long Island. This was her home for 58 years where family was raised and fond memories were created. Massapequa Park was her home up until she moved to Morris Township, New Jersey in 2017 where she lived with her daughter Sandi. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked in the telephone company as a telephone operator for many years. She later worked in the mailroom of that company where she met her very dear friends, Magda, Millie & Mary. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and loved sharing her experiences with the cherished women of her prayer group. Dorothy had a heart of gold and a kind and generous soul. She touched the lives of many and will truly be missed and fondly remembered. She is predeceased by her father & mother, Tom and Mary Hayes; her beloved husband, Joseph; her dear sister and husband, Irene and Rudy Fiorvanti; her wonderful brother and his wife, Tom and Dottie Hayes; cherished nephews, Jerry and Rudy Fiorvanti and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her daughters, Sandi Pelton-Garcia and Sally (Douglas) Beicht. She was “Arma” to her treasured grandchildren, Paul (PJ) Baginski, Bryon (Katie) Garcia, Eric (Amanda) Garcia, Alexandra (Jonathan) Shannon, Desiree (Tom) Eddington, Kimberley Beicht-Graves, Anthony (Ryan) Beicht, Daniel (Kacie) Beicht and 19 great grandchildren with 2 more due in 2020. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Ken Hoey, Patti Fiorvanti, Jack (Carol) Fiorvanti; Edward (Janice) Fiorvanti, Tom (Kammy) Fiorvanti, Mary Fiorvanti-Carmen; Tom Small, Ed Small, Valerie Hayes-Cunningham and many grand nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. There will be a visitation for Dorothy on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Avenue, Morristown, NJ from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls, NJ at 10am. Burial will be on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, LI, NY at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mercy School for Special Learning, Allentown, PA (mercyschool.org) in recognition of Katie Fiorvanti in Dorothy’s honor would be greatly appreciated.
