Barbara Helen Feist Obituary

Barbara Helen Feist, 85, Mandan, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, October 28, 2019, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan with Fr. Brandon Wolf officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 3-5:00 PM, Sunday, October 27, 2019, with a Vigil/Rosary service beginning at 5:00 PM at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Barbara Braun was born October 30, 1933, along with her twin sister Elizabeth (Braun) Flemmer, at rural Selfridge, North Dakota, to Zacheus and Katie (Mosset) Braun. She grew up on the farm near Selfridge and attended Selfridge Public School. On September 30, 1952 she married Max Feist at St. Philomena Catholic Church. As a family they enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Barbara worked at Hoskin Meyer’s Greenhouse and after many years, she retired from the Bismarck Elks Club. She had a passion for gardening and had a true green thumb. She enjoyed and looked forward to her weekly card parties. Barbara also enjoyed baking. She had many special recipes that her family loved. Butterscotch and Lemon Meringue Pie were her specialties! On Sunday afternoons, she always enjoyed listening to polka music. Barbara cherished spending time with family. She loved travelling to Phoenix to visit her sisters. She loved visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her one daughter, Shirley Nagel, Sioux Falls, SD; three sons, Tom (Mary Kay), Regan, ND, Melvin, Mandan and Ron, Bismarck; four sisters, Anna Berger, Mandan, Elizabeth Flemmer and Theresa Jefferson both of Phoenix, AZ, and Katie Bauer, Billings, MT; three grandchildren, Dion, Jodi, and Jordan; four great-grandchildren, Chase, Nolan, Kindra and Kaia; and numerous special friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; brothers, Bernard, Lawrence, and Johnny; sisters, Tillie and Regina. Please sign her guestbook and share memories at www.dawiseperry.com.
