Gerard Rogg Obituary

Gerard (Gerry) Jean Leon Rogg August 16, 1926 – October 24, 2019 Gerry Rogg was born in Wauchope, Sask. on the farm and passed away at the Redvers Health Centre Long Term Care Facility (Haven) at the age of 93, with his daughter Robin Lundgren and a long-time friend by his side. Gerry was predeceased by his loving wife of 37 years, Seretha (Sam), née Fells, on June 7, 2019. He was also predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Gabrielle (née Laval) Rogg; step mother Antonie; siblings, Stephanie, Renee, Stephane, Denise, Marie and George. He is survived by his daughter Robin and his siblings, Clarisse, Elise, Gabrielle, Rene, France and Celine and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry will also be lovingly missed by his five grandchildren, Tina Murray, Michael (Robyn) Michalchuk, Chrissy Scott and Evy Cameron, all of Kenora, Ont.; Troy Lundgren of Kelowna, B.C.; four great grandchildren, Keagan, Nathan and Gareth Murray of Kenora, Ont. and Kira Lundgren of Kelowna, B.C. He leaves behind many broken hearts, especially his Filipino friends, who lovingly called him Lolo Gerry (Grandfather). Gerry loved traveling the world, farming, flower and vegetable gardening, carpentry, singing in the choir at his church, curling, bowling, fishing, even calling for square dances, making his own wine, and he was also a heavy duty mechanic. Gerry always gave back to his community. He served as a councillor for the RM of Antler No. 61 for 26 years and he was the RM’s representative on the Redvers Recreation Board. He was a long-time supporter of sports and recreation. He was involved with minor hockey and operated his own skate sharpening machine for 10 years. In the 90s he spent many volunteer hours on the construction and maintenance of various recreation projects, like the Redvers Pool, sports grounds and baseball diamonds. He served as a director on the board of UGG, a trustee for the Elks Lodge and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Gerry and his wife, plus other volunteers designed and built a park and gazebo to be shared by all, in his town of Redvers. He received many awards, too many to mention, for all his volunteer work. The Funeral Mass for Gerry and Seretha was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, Redvers, on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Andree presiding. A luncheon followed in the parish hall, after which the Rite of Committal took place at the Redvers Town Cemetery. If friends and family so desire, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Box 169, Redvers, Sask., S0C 2H0. Dustin Hall with Hall Funeral Services, Redvers assisted Gerry’s family.
