Her Legacy… Elaine Marie Hartman, 70, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2019. She was born on October 3, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan to John Arbour and Mary (DeMay) Arbour. Elaine graduated from Dexter High School and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Food Service Technology from Washtenaw Community College in 1970. It was while working at The League that she met and fell in love with Wayne Sheldon Hartman. After a short courtship, Wayne and Elaine were married on June 4, 1976 in Dexter, Michigan. Elaine served the community by working as a paraprofessional in the Dexter Community School District for several years. However, Elaine is best known for her cake decorating business, Basically Cakes. She used her gift of creativity to help others celebrate life’s special moments. Elaine was always full of laughter and joy, and she blessed many lives with her compassionate and generous nature. Her Family… Elaine will be missed by her husband, Wayne; her children, Bryan (Andrea) and Kevin (Leslie); her grandchildren Natalie and Evan; her siblings, Philip (Lori) Arbour, Edward (Julie) Arbour, Daniel (Victoria) Arbour, Patricia (Scott) Aeschliman, Catherine (Harry) Johnson, Robert (Julia) Arbour, and Margaret (Robert) Rosenau; and many nieces and nephews. Her Farewell… Elaine’s family and friends will gather Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00am till time of service at 1:00pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Pastor Reed Heckmann will officiate the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice or memorial contributions may be given to family for future designation.
