BARKHAMSTED –Sarah Rose Crouse, 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 13, 2019. She was the loving wife of Bernie L. Crouse having celebrated their 46th anniversary on June 29th. Born September 21, 1951 in Heath, MA she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Rose. A graduate of Simsbury High School in 1971 she spent time at Virginia Intermont College then went on to work in Health services and caregiving for the disabled. Along with raising their own children she and Bernie opened their home and provided foster services to adults with disabilities and devoted much of her time to group homes. She was an outgoing, forthright people person who was larger than life with a huge heart and exceptionally kind soul. She was a past member of the Simsbury Grange and very involved with her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goshen then Canton, CT. With a voice like an angel she loved to sing and was involved with various coral groups over the years and passed her musical talent to her children and theirs. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored her 5 Grandchildren. In addition to her devoted husband, she leaves behind her cherished children; Corey L. Crouse and wife Amy of Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia, Canada (formerly Barkhamsted); Adrienne Nash and husband Thomas Nash, Jr., of Barkhamsted; Ashleigh Steponitis and husband Dave Steponitis of Torrington; her ever so beloved grandchildren, Payden, Terry & Betty Crouse of Nova Scotia, Canada; Sydney and Sawyer Nash of Barkhamsted. Brothers, Robert Plankey and Donald Plankey, of Roanoke, VA; a Sister in-law, Gloria Plankey of Granby along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Gordon Plankey, her Uncle Louis Rose and her beloved father Charles Rose as well, her brother in-law Terry D. Crouse and parent-like in-laws Leyland and Betty Crouse along with Leona W. Moore who the family adopted as a Great Grandmother to Sarah and Bernie’s Children. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Riverside Cemetery, Pleasant Valley at 11 AM. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, Winsted has care of the arrangements.
