Josie Guzman Obituary

Josephine DeLaTorre Guzman of Grand Prairie passed away October 16, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Tuesday, July 27, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Joe G. DeLaTorre & Velia (Barrera) DeLaTorre. Josephine was affectionately known by her family & friends as Josie unless things had gone south, then she became “JOSEPHINA”. Josie loved gambling, it didn’t matter to her if is was in the form of scratch off’s, casino slots or playing poker with the kids. She was always searching for the big win and she would cheat in a heartbeat to get that win. One of her favorite past times was watching westerns over and over again, especially her favorite ‘Gunsmoke’. Josie also enjoyed horror movies and even considered becoming a vampire so she could live forever. She was full of life and had a wonderful, unique sense of humor. Her Menudo was the best on the planet and her Thanksgiving dressing was a family favorite. Family was most important to her and she never passed up the opportunity to be with them. Josie is preceded in death by her parents; brother Joe DeLaTorre, Jr.; great-grandchildren Alexander & Augustino Elizardo and Amarie Elizardo. She leaves behind to cherish her memory husband Aniceto Guzman of Grand Prairie; daughters Tracy Paredez of Arlington; Aurora Hernandez and husband Joe of Grand Prairie; & Christina Guzman of Irving; son Gino Guzman and wife Tiffany of Arlington; grandchildren Felisha Vasquez and husband Patrick; Maria & Josie Gonzalez; Augie & Brandon Padilla; Romeo & Roman Paredez; Abel Guzman; Valarie & Vanessa Ramos; Tori McClelland and husband Andrew; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and devoted family and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow on Thursday at 12:30 pm at The Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas.
