Mary Ida Peterson

LODI-Mary Ida Peterson, age 70, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society Lodi. She was born on December 31, 1945 the daughter of James and Essie (Segerstrom) Kittoe in Hazel Green, Wis. Mary graduated from Cuba City High School, class of 1964, and from UW Platteville with a degree in elementary education in 1969. She later completed her master's degree in education in 1988. Mary was a dedicated teacher of first grade in the Dane/Lodi district for 33 ½ years. Mary and her husband James were united in marriage on March 23, 1973 in Lodi, Wis. Mary enjoyed attending Badger football and basketball games, gardening and playing cards. She also enjoyed volunteering at First Lutheran Church in Lodi, spending many hours devoted to the youth programs. Mary is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Megan; mother, Essie; sisters, Jane (Russ) and Glenda (Bob); brother, James (Angela); sister-in-law, Connie and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James. Funeral Services will be held at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH., 206 Pleasant St., Lodi, 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 with Pastor Michael Lee officiating. Visitation will be held at HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main St., Lodi from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Friday, March 11, 2016, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials to be made to the First Lutheran Church Lodi for use in their youth programs or to the American Legion Auxiliary Lodi.
