Thomas “Tom” Bridgewater Pfister, 80, of Johnston City, passed away at 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019 at his residence with his loving wife by his side. Tom was born July 18, 1939 in Harrisburg to Stephen and Beulah (Bridgewater) Pfister. He was married to Linda Woodruff until she preceded him in death on December 20, 2005. He later married Rae Ann Halter on July 10, 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they shared 13 years of marriage. Tom was retired, having been in insurance sales for many years. He was employed by Mutual of Omaha. His job enabled him to travel across the world and live a life full of adventure. He was a long time member of the Harrisburg Elks and Marion Knights of Columbus. Tom enjoyed gardening and cooking. His love for cooking inspired him to open a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked in his restaurant for many years before moving to Missouri to be closer to his family. Eventually Tom and Rae Ann decided to return to their roots and settle back home in Southern Illinois. Tom is survived by his wife, Rae Ann Pfister of Johnston City; sons, Steven (Rhonda) Pfister of Farmington, MO, Joseph (Cindy) Pfister of Kansas City, KS, and Cory Pfister of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Reed, Logan, and Jordan Pfister of Farmington, MO, Lauren Pfister of Greenville, SC, and Alyssa Pfister of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Madonna Cory of Troy, PA. Step-sons and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his late wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; brothers David Pfister, Bill Pfister, and infant brother John Pfister; one sister, Mary Sirach. Celebration of life services will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Elks Lodge #1058 in Harrisburg, Illinois. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg High School Band. Envelopes will be available at the Elks Lodge.
