Wayne W. Roe, age 90, passed away 4:57 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center, Greenville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church in Mulberry Grove, Illinois. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg . Visitation will be held at the Church Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Kid's Ark, Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church. Wayne Whitten Roe, the youngest son of Ora A. and Edna (Whitten) Roe was born October 16, 1928 in Vandalia, Illinois. Wayne grew up on the family farm three miles north of Mulberry Grove, Illinois. He helped run the family farm and attended Pleasant View Country School and Mulberry Grove High School. On March 19, 1949 Wayne and Marie Goodin were united in marriage. They enjoyed 57 years together. Marie passed away August 16, 2006. Wayne and Marie raised a family and farmed the old home place three miles north of Mulberry Grove. Wayne worked hard milking Holstein cows and expanding the farm while Marie contributed by feeding many hired men and raising the girls. Wayne and Marie were active members of the Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church. They helped by teaching Sunday School, developing the Patoka Baptist Church Camps for kids and supplying ice cream and milk for summer Bible School. Wayne, a church deacon, also lead the church song services for many years. He also helped raise funds for the love packages in Butler, Illinois. Surviving are their four daughters: Barbara Ann Grigg of Greenville, Sondra Marie McKean and husband Randy of Fishers, Indiana, Kathy Jean Sheeley of Greenville and Whitney Lynn Leidner and husband Dave of Belleville, Illinois. Wayne has six grandchildren: Erik (Janet) Grigg of Greenville, Tyler (Michelle) McKean of St. Peters, MO, Jonathan McKean of Fishers, IN, Landon Sheeley of Fairview Heights, Ally Leidner of Springfield, MO and Brendon Leidner of Belleville. Wayne also has 5 great-grandchildren. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ivan Roe and Eldon Roe; sisters, Erma Wise and Leota Wilcox; wife Marie, son-in-law Bruce Grigg and grandson Aaron Sheeley. Wayne lived his life as a “sower of seeds”: seeds of grain, seeds of helping others, and seeds of a great faith in God.
