Richard Francis Oliver died on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from cancer. He was 89. Mr. Oliver was born on December 10, 1929 in Chelsea, MA to Leslie A. Oliver and Frances A. (Pothier) Oliver. After high school Richard served in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in Communications, where he met Delores Darleen (Rogers) Oliver, whom he wed in 1952. Richard worked as a banker for thirty-five years before retiring with his wife to Hendersonville, NC. Mr. Oliver was a highly religious man and a devout Catholic. After his wife’s death from cancer he spent a number of years working at the Elizabeth House, a hospice facility in Flat Rock, NC, providing comfort to cancer patients with his dog, Sasha. Mr. Oliver is survived by his children, Dean Oliver and his wife, Nancy, of Marblehead, MA, Donna Mazzone, and her husband, Frank, of Derry, NH, and Dennis Oliver of Orlando, FL as well as five grandchildren Frank Mazzone Jr. and his wife Amanda, Justin and Anthony Mazzone, and Emma and Sarah Oliver, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Vincent Mazzone. He was predeceased by his wife, Darleen, and his two brothers, Robert and Stanley Oliver. Visiting hours are scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 from 4 to 7pm at the Campbell Funeral Home in Beverly, MA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 10am at the Campbell Funeral Home with a reception to follow at Danversport in Danvers.
