James Arthur Williams, 71, resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away October 9, 2019 at his daughter's home surrounded by his family. James Arthur Williams was the first born child to Thurman and Hazel Paysinger on January 23, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana

James received his early education at Carrie Martin High School in Plain Dealing, La. He was very active in Basketball, Football and baseball.

He went to Treasure Lake Job Corps in Indiahoma, Oklahoma where after completing a degree at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a counselor for several years.

In 1973 he married the love of his life Phyllis Oneida Paul they were married forty years until her passing in 2014. Of this union two children were born Whitney Jamico Williams and Nicolette Brianna Williams.

James became a truck driver until 1979 where he begun working at Solvay Chemical Plant in Vernon, Texas. He worked at Solvay for thirty four years until his retirement.

He became a deacon of St. John the Baptist Church in 1989. When first meeting James some may have been intimidated by his size but he was a gentle giant and he loved to debate on any subject. He was known as a jokester.
His passion was barbequing. In his spare time he loved driving the charter buses for Altus High School and Western Oklahoma State College. He played baseball and softball for the Altus League. He was a member of St. James Lodge Chapter 229 and James Crane Lodge in Altus, Oklahoma.

James was preceded in death by his Brother Thurman Paysinger Jr., his mother Hazel Paysinger, his sister Carolyn Sue Paysinger - Noble and his wife Phyllis Oneida Williams.

Survivors include his two daughters; Whitney Jamico Williams of Altus, Oklahoma, Nicolette Brianna Williams two grandsons; Byron - Phineas Malik Williams and Zyan Darius Williams both of Altus, Oklahoma Father; Thurman Paysinger, sisters Diane Paysinger, Juanita Paysinger, Saron Paysinger Brenda Carter, Sharon Carter. One brother Tyrone Paysinger and wife, two god daughters Chaundrel McCarver, Kenyanna Clark and one god son Tyrone Walker.

The Williams family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma.

A homegoing service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home with interment to follow at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.
