John Daniel “Dan” Ferrell, age 64 of Carthage, NC passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
Dan was born on June 29, 1955 in Harnett County to the late George Oliver Ferrell and Dorothy Pope Ferrell. He worked in law enforcement where he served as the Chief of Police in Coats for 3 years and then later at Moore County Sherriff’s Office. After a career in law enforcement, Dan then began his own lawn maintenance business. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting and working outdoors. He enjoyed grilling out and entertaining others. He will always be remembered as a simple man that enjoyed life to the fullest.
He is survived by his two daughters: Cristi West and husband Brooks of Four Oaks, NC and Danielle Ferrell of Clayton, NC. He is also survived by two brothers: George David Ferrell of Angier, NC and Joseph Wayne Ferrell of Coats, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Dylan, Cody and Carleigh Bates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Cpl. Kyle Ferrell in 2015; his loving wife, Donna Ferrell in 2018; and his sister Jennifer Ellen Massengill.
