John "Jack" Sager

John “Jack” Sager, 74, of Neshannock Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of October 9, 2019 due to Parkinson’s disease that he received as a result of Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. Born June 26, 1945 in New Castle, he was the son of Frederick and Gene (Reynolds) Sager. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen (Zeigler) Sager, whom he married June 30, 1967. A 1964 graduate of New Castle High School, Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1968 during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He retired as a Corrections Officer from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at the SCI in Mercer. Jack’s interests included motorcycles, Hot Rods, word search puzzles, and listening to country music. An active member of Calvary Independent Church, he served as an elder and a former AWANA Commander. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rhonda (Scott) Salomon of Neshannock Township, Robin (Rodney) Parry of North Beaver Township, and Jodi (Scott) Karns of Neshannock Township; and eight grandchildren, Abbey and Lacey Salomon, Ryan, Rylee and Reagan Parry, Chellsie, Sydney and Landon Karns. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Sager; one sister, Joyce Sager. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, from 3:00-6:00p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road and on Saturday, October 12, from 10:00-11:00a.m. at Calvary Independent Church, 424 E. Moody Avenue, New Castle. A funeral service will take place Saturday at 11:00 at the church with the Rev. Chuck Fombelle officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Independent Church AWANA Clubs. Online condolences may be offered at www.cunninghamfh.com
