Myra Nell Bates

Myra Nell Easterwood Bates, age 73 of Temple, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019. She was born August 07, 1946 in Carroll County, Georgia, daughter to the late Garris Asbury Easterwood and Gertrude Reynolds Easterwood. She worked in banking for more than 40 years and retired as an auditor for BB&T. She loved spending time with her family and friends and one of her ways of showing her love to them was through her cooking. She enjoyed bringing people together and was the glue that kept them bound. She was a member of Center Point United Methodist Church and when she was able, she was very active in the church and in her community. She was loved by all that knew her and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Gail Ware; and a brother, Delano Easterwood. She is survived by her loving husband, Guy Bates of Temple; her children, Ken and Debbie Bates of Carrollton and Jason K. and Courtney Bates of Bremen; three grandchildren, Jarek Bates, Nolan Bates, and Cassidie Bates; and two sisters, Betty and Billy Stevens of Temple and Brenda Cruse of College Park. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryan and Rev. Bill Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery with Rev. Michael Williams performing graveside services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
