Colfax-Lois Bowman Coleman, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. She was born June 3, 1924 in Guilford Co. to the late William E. and Essie Tucker Bowman. Mrs. Coleman was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church and had retired from Guilford College after many years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Coleman and son, Ronald Lee Coleman. Surviving are two sons, David Coleman and wife, Sonja, and Lawrence Coleman; two grandchildren, Traci Coleman Ireland and Brad Coleman; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Olivia Ireland and Skylar Coleman; and one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Ferrell. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM March 2, 2012 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with Rev. Sam White and Rev. Phil Kirkman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Shady Grove Wesleyan Church, PO Box 98, Colfax, NC 27235.
