NELLIE (NELL) KELLEY THOMAS

Nellie (Nell) Kelley Thomas, age 97, of Pleasureville, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Providence Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born October 20, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Amster and Linnie Cox Kelley. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Reed Thomas of Louisville, and Marcia Thomas Crask (Garnett) of Athens, Alabama; sister: Mary Ruth Stivers of Shelbyville; half-sister: Josephine Floyd of Shelbyville; two grandchildren: Kelley Thomas Crask and Shane Alvin Crask (Marlene); and four great-grandchildren: Ethan Andrew Crask, Michael Thomas Crask, Rachel Lee Crask, and Parker Reed Crask. She is preceded in death by her husband: Cash Reed Thomas; a sister: Wilma Kelley Reid; and a half-brother: Truman Kelley. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Pleasureville United Methodist Church. Rev. Andrew Messamore, pastor of Pleasureville United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville, and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Wills, Billy Craigmyle, Danny Ellis, Joey Kephart, Charlie Gribbins, Ashley Chilton, Nancye Chilton, and Martha Lee Byers. Active pallbearers will be Kelley Crask, Shane Crask, Larry Kelley, Gary Kelley, Sam Stivers, and Ricky Adler. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to Pleasureville United Methodist Church, 5651 Castle Highway, Pleasureville, KY 40057; Hosparus of Louisville, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205; or Smaritan's Purse, P.O. She was one of "our moms" to the class of 1959. Always smiling and welcoming the girls into her home, wanting us to have a good time. She and Mom Lucy always visited me when I was in the hospital. Will never forget them. Loved my "other moms"!!

Mama Nell will certainly be missed by her friends in Pleasureville. She was a one-of-a-kind lady, beautiful both inside and out. We will keep Carolyn, Marcia and her family in our prayers while they are dealing with such a Huge loss.
