Michael J. McDermott Bensalem, Pennsylvania Obituary

Michael J. McDermott

Michael J. McDermott went home to his heavenly father, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, December 11, 2015, with his loving wife Mary by his side. He was 57 years old. Michael was born and raised in Phila, the son of John J. and Norma (Jansen) McDermott. Michael received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in Material Science from Drexel University. He was a business unit manager with Ametek Corporation. His profession took him and Mary to South Jersey, Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, and most recently to Douglassville. He was a member of and held several offices in many professional associations. Michael's favorite pastime was fishing in Lake Sebago, and he also loved listening to blues music. He was devoted to his family, and enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends. Michael was the beloved husband for 30 years of Mary P. (Wong) McDermott, devoted brother of John K. McDermott, loving brother in law, and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at 9am on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Rd, Phila. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am. Rite of Committal will be in Resurrection Ceme. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America at http://lcfamerica.kintera.org/michaeljmcdermott.
