Addie Brown Obituary

Mary Adeline “Addie” Pugh Brown, 85, entered into eternal peace on February 2, 2015. Born on June 30, 1929, Addie was a resident of the Muskogee area most of her life. She was a retired office administrator for Muskogee County, business owner of a beauty shop, restaurant and vault company. She married James Paul Roberts in 1948 and settled in Woodall, OK on the family’s ranch. Children, Bill, Mary Paula and Jim were born of this union. Her husband Paul passed away far too young in 1956 leaving Addie a young widow with three small children. The devotion to her children gave her courage to endure the loss and learn a craft that could provide for her family. She graduated Beauty College and worked as a beautician for several years. In 1959 she married Morris Pugh, a cattle rancher, and moved south of Muskogee to McLain. They welcomed a son, Robert, making the family complete. Addie will be remembered for her smile and thoughtful spirit. Her ability to recollect and acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries and special events of friends and family was extraordinary. She loved laughter, music, reading, fishing, bingo, community theatre, and all things vintage. Few people knew her creativity as a patented inventor, but many knew her talents as a decorator. She found great pleasure in decorating church functions for all to enjoy. She was a lady with class, but a woman with unfaltering strength and wisdom to overcome hardship and perceive the future with optimism. Addie loved her children first, and anyone else second, except the Lord whom she worshiped and adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Lola Huggins; husbands, James Paul Roberts, and Morris C. Pugh; son James “Jim” Huggins Roberts; brothers, Floyd “Hoot” Huggins and Jerry Huggins. Survivors include three children, William Allen Roberts, Mary Paula Roberts and Robert Morris Pugh; sister, Lucille Smith; sisters-in-law, Helen Huggins and Wanda Dotson. Funeral services honoring Addie’s life will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2015 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home, 2801 Chandler Rd, Muskogee, OK. Memorial Donations may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Fort Gibson, P.O. Box 1563, Fort Gibson, OK 74434.
