Sharon Marie Elder, of Woodward, OK, passed from this life on Sept. 13, 2019. Born in Sebastopol, CA to Loren and Lois Luster (Showalter). She lived her younger years in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, CA, as well as Richmond, VA.
She graduated from Montgomery High School, Santa Rosa, CA, in 1965. She soon married Torkil Juul on Feb. 4, 1966. Sherry and Torkil had 2 children, Lisa and Derrin Juul.
The first half of her life she lived in various cities in Sonoma County, CA, as a wife and mother, later taking jobs as a nurses assistant, waitress, cook, and house cleaner. She later moved to Evanston, WY, then Galveston, TX, then back to Santa Rosa, CA.
On Sept. 29, 1982, she married Roy Baker, of Sebastopol, CA. She found happiness in gardening, playing cards, and spending time with granddaughter and daughter. She was extremely proud of her son, Derrin Juul, becoming an United States Marine Corp soldier and his serving in Desert Storm. Around this same time she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. (She was a Breast Cancer Survivor for 30+ yrs)
Sherry relocated to Woodward, OK, in 1993, to be near family. Soon she married Robert Leon Elder in Aug. 1994, they were married for 25 yrs.
Sherry and Robert (Bob) had investment properties they maintained during their marriage that kept them busy. Sherry also enjoyed gardening, cooking for others, reading, playing cards and board games. She was creative, enjoyed making crafts and even occasionally writing poems. She was never happier than when she spent time with dogs and children, Family members recall many memorable times at her house carving pumpkins, Easter egg hunts, or sitting down to Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner.
Those who knew her were fortunate when they saw her generous side, which included volunteer work at the Woodward Senior Center.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Loren Luster & Lois Bucher, brother, Walter Luster, sister, Cerese Sutton, and tragically she lost both her son, Derrin Juul and granddaughter, RoseMarie Juul in the 2012 Woodward/Fargo tornado.
Sherry is survived by husband, Robert Elder, of Woodward, OK.
Daughter, Lisa Thorpe (Juul) & husband, Daniel, and granddaughter, Jessica Thorpe, of Fairfield, CA.
Granddaughter, Sarah Stewart (Thorpe) & husband, Abraham, great granddaughter, Harper-Grace and great grandson, Tucker-James, of Santa Rosa, CA.
Daughter-in-law, Michele Allen-Juul, granddaughters, Heather Juul and Savannah Allen & husband Ryan Vanderwork (known as Kyle to family), great granddaughter Aubree, and shortly after Sherry's passing, great granddaughter, Willow, was born, all formerly of Woodward, OK, currently in Grants Pass, OR.
Brothers, Eric Bucher & wife Amanda, Bryan Bucher & wife Annette, all of Woodward, OK.
Brother, Floyd (Butch) Luster & wife Regina, of Inyokern, CA.
Many, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews.
Sharon Marie Elder now lays at rest and in peace at Elmwood Cemetary in Woodward, OK.
