Beatrice Jeanette Fritz Obituary

Beatrice Jeanette Fritz (nee Robinson) passed away on November 22, 2015 at age 90. She was a triplet who, along with her sisters, Betty and Bernice, was born on November 26, 1924 in a small home in Hiles, Wisconsin. She spent her first winter in a shoe box in a family room near the fire place which was the only source of heat for the home. Bea graduated from Stambaugh, Michigan high school in 1943 where she participated on the women’s basketball team. She relocated to Milwaukee shortly thereafter and supported herself by working in a munitions factory during the war. Bea was an avid baseball fan attending many games at Borchert Field in Milwaukee, commonly called “Borchert’s Orchard”, and rooted for the original Milwaukee Brewers. Bea eventually returned to the north woods. She met her future husband, Donald Fritz at a social event in 1953 in Hiles, Wisconsin. Bea commuted to Hiles from Milwaukee in 1954 to be with Donald. They were married in 1955 and spent their honeymoon at the Northernaire in Three Lakes. Don and Bea were married for forty-eight years until his death in 2003. They built their home on Pine Lake near Rhinelander and lived happily with an extended family close by. Bea was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with family. Her games of choice were Pinochle and Sheepshead. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Alan) Newman of Rhinelander; son, Gary (Carol Johnson Fritz) of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren, John Esch Jr., Anna Rose Fritz, Joseph Newman, Grant Newman, Colton Newman, and Connor Newman; and two great grandchildren, Sophie and Aiva Newman. She is in their thoughts and prayers. In addition to her husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and two brothers. A private family graveside service and interment will take place at Northland Memorial Park. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is assisting Bea’s family with arrangements and condolences may be directed at www.carlsonfh.com.
