Greg Peltz Kitchener Obituary

Greg Peltz

PELTZ, Gregory Murray Of St. George, Ontario, died peacefully at home on his farm Thursday 20 July, 2017 aged 58 years. Greg was the beloved son of Geraldine and the late Murray Peltz (July 3, 2010). He will be greatly missed by his sister Julie Peltz, her husband Duncan Stewart, nieces Claire and Fiona Stewart and his many, many friends. Greg had an incredible zest for life that he shared with all around him. He was very generous with his time and his kindness overflowed to everyone that he knew. He had a deep love for his family, close friends and his dogs, especially 'Titan'. In spite of his recurring struggle with cancer, he continued to live life large with optimism and joy. Greg found his professional passion and talent at Conestoga College as a Machinist. After graduating in 1987, Greg started his partnership with Dave Dietrich on a handshake. Their company Pro Machining Inc. has since operated for 30 years with enviable success founded on an old-school pride in excellence and quality. Their second company, Quality Valve, was built, operated and sold within that same trusted partnership. Greg also gave back to his profession by volunteering on national trades committees to set guidelines and exams for the next generation of machining students. Greg loved applying his mechanical talent to repair anything that came his way, including generously fixing machinery from every nearby farm and increasingly spending time with good friends under the hood of old rat rods and classic cars. He participated in many classic car show events throughout Ontario and the Atlantic and Syracuse Nationals. Another community of Greg's friends was centered at the Galt Sportsman Club, where Greg developed a discerning interest in sporting clays. He pursued this fun all over North America, making new friends easily wherever he travelled. Greg truly enjoyed life on his farm, where both he and his dogs felt completely at home tramping in the bush, cutting firewood, or building bonfires and star gazing with friends. A discussion on astronomy and the physics of black holes was always welcome! Every milestone or major holiday called for a gathering. Greg was a serious blues fan and hosted many musical events at the farm. He loved the blues and those in the musical community and shared his enthusiasm with so many. He also loved and supported the arts with a keen interest in emerging artists. Pottery shows and art studio tours were not to be missed. He displayed his paintings by professionals alongside the paintings by his friends, because his dedication to friends never wavered. He was quick to offer assistance and despite his own failing health he always asked about others' well-being and provided words of inspiration. Greg's smile and wisdom were always present. Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Juravinski Hospital, the Stedman Hospice in Brantford, and the VON nurses who all offered such warm and compassionate care, sharing kindness and humour with Greg throughout. His family are so grateful to all his wonderful friends who kept him company over the past months with music and stories. A special thank you to his beloved cousin Cindy Rampone. Cremation has taken place. Greg's ashes will be scattered in a family ceremony. A final gathering of friends and family will take place on his farm, under the stars and with the music he loved.
