Rev. Milan Maybee

Rev. Milan Maybee Jackson, Michigan His Legacy… Milan Garth Maybee, 86, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home of Jackson. He was born on September 5, 1933, in Rosebush, Michigan to Harry Morton and Lena Mae (Ouderkirk) Maybee. After many years of courting and chasing after Margaret Schade, they married on June 26, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant and even after marriage he always told how he continued to chase her... Milan served in the Michigan National Guard at the Alma Armory, in Alma. He attended Spring Arbor College, Owosso Bible College, and Huntington College until he became ordained as a Minister. During Milan’s ministry, he pastored three churches, Caledonia United Brethren Church from 1958 - 1960 and Eden United Brethren Church from 1960 - 1972. After moving to Brooklyn, Rev. Maybee and his wife founded The Heart O’ the Lakes United Brethren Church, where he spent 19 years from 1972 - 1991 ministering to the Irish Hills area and served two terms as Superintendent of The United Brethren Conference from 1991 - 1998. He drove bus for Mason, Eden and Columbia School district. Milan cherished his time with the Michigan Wood Carvers Association and is considered to be quite an artist. He was always known to be quick witted and have a snappy joke. Pastor Milan was a proud member of the staff at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, where he and Margaret continued to minister to those in need. He loved and cherished, his children and grandchildren. Pastor Milan will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His Family… Pastor Milan will be missed by his loving children Mark (Gail) Maybee, Paul (Kathy) Maybee, Mary (Craig) Durst, John Maybee; his beloved seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret, his siblings Edra, Merle, Erma and Malcolm. His Farewell… Pastor Milan’s family and friends will gather Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Heart O’ the Lakes United Brethren Church, 7031 Jefferson Rd., Brooklyn, Michigan where his Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. Pastor Tim Flickinger and Pastor Cyle Young are officiating with worship music provided by Paula Davis Stitt.
