Ruby A. Bruce

Ruby A. Bruce, of Maple Ave., Springville, died Friday September 13, 2019 in Sisters of Charity Hospital, Buffalo at the age of 76. She was born August 27, 1943 in Coalsport, PA a daughter of the late George and Marjorie (nee Gill) Westover. She was a graduate of Hamburg High School and attended the First United Methodist Church in Springville. She was the Assessor for the Town of Colden, Real Property Appraiser for the Town of Ashford and Clerk/Typist in the Assessor's Office for the Town of Concord until her retirement in September 2013. She was a member of the Springville Eastern Star, enjoyed her time at the Senior Centers in Springville and Boston, was a Red Cross volunteer and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading and loved animals. She is survived by her daughters - Yvonne (Joe) Sciolino of Hamburg, Colleen (George) Wiedemann of Freedom; two granddaughters - Alicia and Katelyn; a brother - Robert (Beverly) Elliott of PA; sisters - Emma Jean Elliott of Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy (Thomas) Morris of Mahaffey, PA, Louise Janish of Springville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister - Joan Kelley. Friends may call Friday September 20, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville. Services will be held Saturday September 21, 2019 at 11 am in the First United Methodist Church, 474 E. Main St., Springville. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Happy Tails Farm & Rescue Center, 3045 Paxon Rd., Eden, 14057 or Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org.
