Don Ogle, 87, of New London, MO, passed away at 2:52 AM Friday, September 13, 2019, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO. Graveside services and burial with full Military Rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. There will be no visitation. The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Don was born September 22, 1931, in Winigan, MO to Olyce Clyde and Lelah Opal Dimmitt Ogle. He was married to Wilda Lee Bowles on March 27, 1952. She preceded him in death in 1976. He later married Ona Lillian Winner on September 29, 1991 in New London, MO and she also preceded him in death on July 4, 2017. Survivors include 2 daughters, Connie Berry (Harold) of Perry, MO, and Debbie Hager (Rick) of Monroe City, MO, 5 grandchildren, Michelle Hinton (Brad) of O'Fallon, MO, Lesa Ashton (Doug) of LeClare, IA, Leanne Hinds (Tom) of Hannibal, MO, Brandi Hager of Monroe City, MO, and Matt Hager of Monroe City, MO, 9 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Bernard Ogle (Reva), and Ronnie Ogle (Joyce), and 1 sister, Velda Clark (Jim). He is also survived by 4 step children, Bruce Winner (Mona), Mark Winner (Becky), Dale Winner (Sandy), and Rena Waddell, as well as 7 step grandchildren, Cade Waddell, Leah Waddell, Joseph Winner, Kristina Winner, Ian Winbrock, Elise Winbrock, and Bren Winbrock. Don is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Janice Thompson and 1 brother, Derald Ogle. Don served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Award, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. Professionally Don was a heavy equipment operator and he also worked at Electric Wheel in Quincy, IL from which he retired. In his retirement Don served as a police officer with the New London Police Department. Don enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, quail and pheasants. Fishing trips to Canada to fish with his brothers and sisters were times Don took pleasure in. Simply being outdoors, mowing and caring for his small garden and flowers were also activities Don liked. Chocolate,fried green tomatoes and rhubarb pie were a few of Don's favorite treats. Cardinals baseball and football on Sundays were some of Don's favorite sports to enjoy. Most of all he simply enjoyed the moments he shared with his family. Don attended the First Baptist Church of New London, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
