Paul Edwin Miller, 77, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at his residence. He was retired after over thirty years as a service technician for GTE, and worked several years after retirement as a driver for Central Illinois Mass Transit. He was born November 25, 1941, in Paris, the son of the late Harry Lee and Laura Elizabeth (Trine) Miller. Survivors include two children, Paul E. (Becky) Miller II of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Amanda Lynn Floyd of Paris; two brothers, Winfred “Cork” Miller of Letts, Iowa, and Ronald A. Miller of Tuscola, Illinois; four grandchildren, Sierra Marie Miller, Heather Ann Miller, Dylan Brady Miller-Floyd, and Drake Ian Floyd; one great-granddaughter, Mia Marie Bowman; several nieces and nephews; as well as his caregiver, friend, and former spouse, Sherry Miller of Paris, and a special friend, Phyllis Bell of Mottville, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles S. Miller, and a fiancé, Janice Pomroy. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member and Past Master of Paris Lodge #268 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and the Palestine Commandery. He was also a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3601 and a member of American Legion Post #211 where he enjoyed volunteering at Legion events. Paul also enjoyed working as a school crossing guard, served as a Paris Community Hospital Volunteer, and was active in Scouts as a committee member for Cub Scout Pack 8. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and grandfather. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the ECCF D.O.-it Cancer Support Group of Paris or to Exotic Feline Rescue of Center Point, Indiana. SERVICE INFORMATION Services celebrating his life were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris, with Pastor Glenn Corbly officiating. Burial followed in Edgar Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #211 and the U.S. Navy Reserves. Casket bearers were Ray Aitken, Erick and Jeff Miller, Kenny Simpson, Dick Stults, and Steve Wilmouth. Honorary casket bearers were Mia Bowman, Nick Esparza, Drak Floyd, Dylan Miller-Floyd, Ron, Sierra, and Winfred Miller, and Kenneth Nail. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites conducted at 7 p.m. by Paris Lodge #268. Additional Information & Online Condolences at www.TempletonFuneralHome.com
