Frederick T. Latus, Jr.

Frederick T. Latus, Jr. 1942-2019 Whitesboro: Frederick T. Latus, Jr., 76, of Whitesboro, passed away September 12, 2019, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. He was born, November 11, 1942, in Utica, a son of Frederick T. and Marjorie Coffee Latus. Fred was a graduate of West Winfield High School, and furthered his education at Ithaca College and Utica College. Mr. Latus served in the US Army Reserves. On November 23, 1974, Fred married Ellen Hospicker at Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica. He retired from WKTV, after 45 years of service in the engineering department. Fred was a member of the Rome Radio Club. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; two children and their spouses, Frederick and Marie Latus III, and Shannon and Mark Ellinwood; five grandchildren, Noel and Sean Latus, and Zachary, Alexander and Caitlin Ellinwood; nine siblings and their spouses, Donald (Susan) Latus, Ann (Sam) Buranich, Ellen (Joe) Loiacono, Susan (Pat) Daly, Dr. Tom (Sanford Hyson) Latus, Patty (John) Barry, Mary Elizabeth Shedlock, Justin (Josie) Latus, and Jane (Ken Jones) Latus; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna (Dr. Richard) Jamison, and Bill (Eileen) Hopsicker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Latus; and a brother-in-law, Tom Shedlock. Fred’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Historic Old St. John’s Church, corner of Bleecker and John Sts., Utica. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clayville. Calling hours are Tuesday, 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502, or The Joslin Diabetes Center, 3229 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13214. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
