Joanne Adeline Constantine Obituary

Joanne A. Constantine (nee Peterson), age 82, a resident of Naperville, IL, former longtime resident of Downers Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on September 13 ,2019 at her Naperville home surrounded by her loving children. She was born on April 22, 1937 in Downers Grove, IL. Joanne is survived by her children Dominica Constantine, Damian (Jennifer) Constantine, and Dan (Sandra) Constantine; grandchildren Tyler and Ethan Constantine and Mason and Danika Constantine; brothers Robert (Bonnie) Peterson and David (Mary) Peterson; nieces and nephews Bobby, Chris, and Kelly Peterson. She is preceded in death by her husband Damian Nicholas Constantine, who passed away in March of 1986, and her parents Adeline and Earl Peterson. Joanne graduated from Downers Grove High School and attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Downers Grove. Always a woman of great faith, she remained active in the church community being a member of the choir and also teaching Sunday School. Joanne is also a past president of the PTA at Henry Puffer Elementary School in Downers Grove. She was also very musically talented, having played the accordion, clarinet, zither, and the piano. She could often be heard playing her rendition of the “Beer Barrel Polka”. In more recent years, Joanne enjoyed travelling with the Mayflower Senior Group, especially enjoying visiting new casinos. Joanne will be remembered as being an excellent cook and hostess, especially around the holidays, where her tremendous spreads of great food was always looked forward to. Most of all, she was a family woman who loved all of her family dearly. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services 44 S. Mill St. Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, IL.
