Bruce “Mike” Brown, age 66, of Malaga, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. Mike was born March 31,1953 in Malaga, a son of Robert and Leona (Carpenter) Brown. He was a 1971 graduate of Beallsville High School, where he participated in football, basketball, and track. To this day, he still holds the OVAC record for the 100 yard dash. For 41 years Mike proudly owned his own drywall contracting business, Brown Drywall, where he used his artistic talents designing ceilings. He was a loving and generous man. He enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard, and watching all sports. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always lending a helping hand. He was a member of the Beallsville Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Brown. Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Brown; his parents, Robert and Leona Brown; children, James (Teresa) Brown, Travis (Alissa) Brown, Ashley (Courtney) Gummer; 11 grandchildren, Malik, Levi, Garrett, Wyatt, Jazzlyn, Brody, McKenna, Trevon, MJ, Aubrianna, and Luke; 2 great-grandchildren, Dezmond and Colt; brothers, David (Alice) Brown and Robert “Tim” (Amy) Brown; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beallsville Church of Christ on Saturday, September 21 where friends and family will be received from 1pm to 3pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3pm officiated by Colin Morrison.
