William Thomas Ewing

William “Bill” Ewing passed away peacefully on September 13, 2019, spending his final days surrounded by family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 6,1938 to parents John Ewing and Sara Frances Voigt Ewing. He was a retiree of Verizon, formerly known as New York Telephone/AT&T. However, his most fulfilling career was as a volunteer baseball coach for youth baseball where he was a powerful influence on countless young boys in Guilford, CT. Bill is preceded in death by both his parents, sister Loretta Ewing, and brother John Ewing. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Jeanne MacDougall Ewing, brother Thomas Ewing of Bradenton, FL, daughter Jennifer Ewing Pierce of Fort Mill, son Luke Ewing of Middlebury CT, and four granddaughters. Visitation and viewing will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 16 in the vestibule of St. Philip Neri Church in Fort Mill, SC, immediately followed by a funeral Mass at 3:00 PM. A reception will take place after Mass at Carolina Ales across the street in Kingsley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Bill’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
