Irene A DiPaolo Secoy, 97, passed away Sept 12, 2019 at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Irene was born Sept 2, 1922 to Nicola and Maria DiPaolo. She was raised in Yamhill, Oregon. She was the youngest of six children. She was in nurses training when she met the love of her life, Hugh F Secoy at a USO dance in Portland, Oregon. After a whirlwind courtship, they were united in marriage. It is said that he wisked her off to Iowa to become a farm wife. To this union a son was born. She fell in love with the farm life. She continued to ask about the crops even years after retiring. Over the course of her life she helped raise and mentor many children. Which included Addie Edwards Hand, Dave Secoy, Nancy Savage, Charlene Bakerink, Robert Secoy, Laurie Patton, Elsie Wright, and Kevin Secoy and several more children. She is preceeded in death by her spouse, her infant son, Hugh Francis Jr, her parents , her siblings, Carmella(Frank) Bogard, Filomena(Americo) Sarti, Peter(Margaret) Hermens, Joseph(Arbutice) Hartman, Agnes(Paul) Lewis, her niece Charlene Bakerink, Elsie Wright. Left to mourn her death are her foster daughter, granddaughter, great grandson, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all.
