Richard E. Kauffman Obituary

Richard E. Kauffman, 95, of Susquehanna Township, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the UPMC Pinnacle Community Campus. He was born October 14, 1923, in Roaring Spring, Pa., and was the son of the late Ralph B. and Mabelle D. Kauffman. He married Esther Isenberg on June 3, 1950, in Martinsburg, Pa. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Robert and Ralph Jr. Richard graduated from Roaring Spring High School, attended Michigan State College, Lansing, Michigan, and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Richard retired from Dauphin Deposit Bank as an officer after 37 years, and was a member and Life Elder of Penbrook Church of God. Richard was secretary of the Board of Pensions, member of the Home Missions Council Board of Trustees, member and chairman of the Stewardship and Finance Commission of the East Pennsylvania Conference, member of the Church of God Home Board of Trustees, member of the Penbrook Church of God Administrative Council and church Endowment Fund Board of Trustees, member of the East Pennsylvania Conference Executive Committee as a delegate to the sessions of the General Conference of the Churches of God, the Treasurer of the East Pennsylvania Conference for 32 years, and member of the Central PA Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society Board of Trustees and served as their Treasurer for many years. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Esther; two daughters, Margaret E. Motter, wife of Robert, of Lower Paxton Township, and Nancy J. Kauffman of Susquehanna Township; grandchildren Ryan Motter and wife, Diane of Chesapeake City, MD and Colleen Sprenkle and husband Joel of Freeburg, PA and great-grandchildren, Evan, Brady and Aaliyah. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18th, 2019 at 11 A.M. at his church, Penbrook Church of God, 2733 Canby Street, Harrisburg, 17103 with Pastor Mark S. Halliday officiating. There will be a viewing from 10-11 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow in the Shoop’s Cemetery Association. Memorial contributions may be made to the Penbrook Church of God.
