Alvin Tucker Obituary

Alvin W. Tucker, 84, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, on Thursday, September 12, 2019. Alvin was born on February 18, 1935, in Carthage, Mississippi to the late Otho and Emma (Horn) Tucker. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954. Alvin served his term until June of 1957. After he received his honorable discharge he moved to Niles, where he met the former Beverly Jo Purucker, and on August 16, 1958, they married in Niles, Michigan. He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight; he retired in 1997 after more than twenty-seven years. Alvin was a very loving man, with a very calm, soothing demeanor. This was exemplified when playing his six-string acoustic guitar. He treasured time spent with his wife and family. Alvin leaves behind to treasure his memory, his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Beverly Jo of Niles; son, Kirk (Brenda) Tucker of Niles; daughter, Deborah (Larry)Daus of Niles; five grandchildren, Nicole (Trent) Teshka, Andrew (Lyndsey) Daus, James Lett, and Stephanie Daus; along with four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gerald Tucker, Kathleen Evick, Jefferson Tucker, and Alice Fortier; a beloved grandson, Ryan Tucker. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. He will be laid to rest in the Family Cemetery in Carthage, Mississippi at a later date. Memorial contributions in Alvin’s memory may be made to the University of Notre Dame, Ryan Tucker Scholarship.
