John Lee Monks, age 81, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away on September 12, 2019. He was born on August 10, 1938 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Philip Edward Monks and Ruby Isabelle Rogers Monks. He worked as a brick mason and dairy farmer. Mr. Monks was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of Park City Church of Christ. He was a UT Vols fan and he loved his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Shrum and Marie Medley. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Mary Ann Monks; sister: Rachel (Ben) Rutledge; brothers: Rogers (Patricia) Monks and Mark (Brenda) Monks all of Fayetteville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Paul Clayton officiating. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
