Earl Dean Young, 88, formerly of 11620 Rabbit Run Rd., died at 10:45 p.m. September 12, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. Earl was born January 11, 1931 in Ottumwa to Fred and Ora Jackson Young. He married Nora Williams on March 21, 1950. A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he worked for Putman welding and retired from Standard Forwarding after 29 years. Earl then worked for Enterprise Rent-a-Car for 18 years before retiring. After retiring, Earl spent his time with grandkids and his family, he was the awesomest grandpa ever. Surviving is his wife, Nora; a daughter, Janice Melling of Ottumwa; 3 granddaughters, Cassandra (Teresa) Young-Gray of Ottumwa, Rachel Hunt of Mt. Pleasant, Lacey Albertson of Ottumwa; 3 great-granddaughters, Audrey Soots of Mt. Pleasant, K’lyn Gray of Chicago, IL, Mya Albertson of Ottumwa; 3 great-grandsons, Kyler Weeks of Ottumwa, Colten Gray of Chicago, IL and Kolbi Young-Gray of Ottumwa; his sister, Connie Rusbult of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Amber Soots; 6 brothers, Clayton, Maurice, Charles, Dale, Raymond and Robert Young; 2 sisters, Gretna Vest and Marjorie Cullinan. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
