Mrs. Eleanor Ruth Pollard Jones, age 86, passed Wednesday, September 11, 2019, surrounded by her family at the Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center in Greenville. She was born August 3, 1933, the daughter of Norman Pollard and Bessie Singleton Pollard. Ruth was an avid gardener and loved spending time with her family. She married the love of her life, Willie Johnnie Jones, and enjoyed 66 years with him until his death on December 17, 2017. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by sister, Barbara P. Stancil; and her son-in-law, Bobby G. Andrews. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Dianne Jones Andrews of Snow Hill and Tammie Sue Merritt and husband, Danny of Lizzie; three granddaughters, Tracey Morris and husband, Randy, who were a huge part of her life and two of her primary caregivers, Brittany Merritt and Julie Merritt Parker, all of Snow Hill; great-granddaughters, Lakyn Morris of Snow Hill, who was the apple of her eye, and Maranda Morris of Greenville; a great-grandson, Dylan Parker; and one great-great-grandson, Holden Baker. A special acknowledgement and thank you is also extended to Vivian Blalock, a special friend and caregiver. Funeral services will be held graveside 11 AM Saturday, September 14th, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Pastor Arnold Ball and Pastor Scott Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home of Dianne J. Andrews, 102 N. Greene St, Snow Hill, NC.
